History and Tradition Tour
  • • Museum of Napoleonic Souvenirs
  • • Collections of the Historic Archives of the Palace

With the Grimaldi family at the helm of the Principality for more than 700 years, the Museum of Napoleonic Souvenirs and Collections of the Historic Archives of the Palace has grown to include thousands of historical pieces: lorgnettes, tobacco pouches, medals, family trees – and more – along with important documents, such as Monaco’s Charter of Independence signed by Louis XII of France.

Monégasque memorabilia? Visit the Museum of Old Monaco, complete with old photos, paintings and books. For a zippy, multi-screen historical look at Monaco’s fast (and famous) lane, see Monaco le Film, near the Oceanographic Museum. Have lunch at the elegant Italian restaurant L’Aurore located down the street from the Palace.

That should fire you up to go to Fontvieille for the imagined roar of a 1929 convertible Citroën Torpedo tracker or a 1903 De Dion Bouton showcased at the Prince’s Private Collection of Vintage Cars, more than 100 classics arrayed for all car lovers. And what could be more appropriate than the Naval Museum, a testimonial to Monaco’s abiding interest in the sea?
